Happy Yule! Yule falls on the first day of winter each year, around the 21st of December. In times past friends would gather on the darkest night of the year to ask for the sun to return.

What you will need:
A Red Candle (a pillar candle or a candle in a glass jar will work fine)
Knife with a sharp point
Spicy cake like gingerbread
A fresh apple, pear, pomegranate or berries
Spicy beverage, such as spiced wine, cider, or chai tea

Gather together all the things that you need for the celebration. Take the knife and carefully carve a picture of the sun into the candle (this is to welcome the sun's return). Light the candle and sit in a semi- circle around it. Invite those spirits who you are connected with to join you.

This is a time of looking back and looking forward. Begin by each person stating one thing that they accomplished over the past year. And proceeding as many times around the circle until all the accomplishments have been stated. Then each person states something that they would like to accomplish in the coming year. Again proceed around the circle as many times as you want. These can be wishes, dreams and goals. They should be positive, exciting things, not dull resolutions.

Then toast to the Yule night and good friends with drink, and eat cake and fruit as you enjoy the company of friends and family.
