Happy Yule!

December 21st is the darkest, longest night of the
year. Traditionally this was the night to light candles
(or the Yule Log) and share a cup of mulled cider
with friends.
When night fell a fire was lit and people would sit
semi-circle around it. They would invite the spirits
who were connected to them to join them as well;
loved ones, ancestors and guides. There would be
spiced cake, fruit, nuts and drink. And people would
sit and talk.
It was a time of looking back
and looking forward.
Each person would speak about what they had
accomplished that year. Then each person would
state a thing that they wanted for the next year.
And with each statement the group would toast to
the success of the wish and plan. This would go on
until the all the goals for the new year had been
said, and the fire was burning low.
Take a few moments this year to celebrate the
Winter Solstice. Happy Yule.
